U-46 Reduces Current Budget
SCHOOL DISTRICT U-46 REDUCES CURRENT
BUDGET BY $4.9 MILLION
To balance its budget for the 2009/2010 school year, School District U-46 officials today announced $4.9 million in reductions. The reductions include the elimination of several positions, a reduction in athletics at the middle and high school levels, and reductions in discretionary funds such as supplies and travel.
“Reductions are never easy,” said Ron Ally, Chief Financial and Operations Officer for U-46. “In making these mid-year reductions, we are trying our best to minimize the impact on classroom instruction,” he added.
