U-46 Celebrates 152 AP Scholars



In recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) examinations, 152 U-46 high school students have been named AP Scholars by the College Board. Students are eligible to take the exams after completing challenging college-level courses at their high schools.

 

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on the number of year-long courses and exams (or their equivalent semester-long courses and exams). More than 1,400 institutions award a full year's credit (sophomore standing) to students presenting a sufficient number of qualifying grades.

 

Seven U-46 students qualified for the highest distinction, AP National Scholar Award, by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5-point scale on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. They are: Kelly Jaynes from Bartlett High; Dylan Bloomquist, Jacob Morris, Dylan Piatt, Shoaib Rashid, Claire St. George, and Thomas Stopka from Elgin High.

 

Thirty-four U-46 students qualified for the AP Scholar of Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. They are: Jacob Clementi, Sara Fern, Kelly Jaynes, Michael Kochanski, Bryan Mette, Carlos Moncada, Miles Sy, and Meagan Zeman from Bartlett High; Naheed Ahmad, Stephanie Anderson, Dylan Bloomquist, Rachel Bruce, Andrew Carlson, Sarah Clark, Kashev Dalmia, Isaac Dupree, Jacob Morris, Lindsey Morrow, Dylan Piatt, Shoaib Rashid, Dean Schmeltz, Claire St. George, Thomas Stopka, William Thorne, Andrea Vercelli, and Brianna Yarwood from Elgin High; Caleb Bryant, Emma Davies, Samuel Larson, Chase Sund, and Lauren Timmons from Larkin High; Andrew Boston from South Elgin High; Raymond Lee and Brandon Nelson from Streamwood High.

 

Twenty-six U-46 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.  They are: Courtney Bernat, James Blaney, Jermaine Dictado, Samantha Maiorana, Kevin Meaux, Kristen Sadowski, Chintan Shah, Anisha Tailor, and David Villanueva from Bartlett High; Richard Blessen, Jamie Cortese, Dylan Harris, Brandi Hernandez, Rachel Lesniak, Ronald Mancenido, Emily Ramirez, Patrick Ruddy, Kevin Stearns, Ayleen Vargas and Valentin Zaldivar from Elgin High; John Stepnowski from Larkin High; Kevin Buss, William Syvongsa, and Cary Thereon from South Elgin High; Daniel Rasinski and Xavier Robinson from Streamwood High.
