Dear Larsen Middle School Students and Parents/Guardians,
We're pleased to announce that Ms. Corey Elton has been selected as the next principal of Larsen Middle School, after serving for the past four years as the assistant principal for freshman success at Larkin High School. In that role, she has helped support the transition of eighth graders into high school, exhibiting a style of leadership that is grounded in thoughtful data analysis, collaborative problem-solving, and a deep belief in what every student can achieve.
One of Ms. Elton’s primary duties is to work closely with teachers to enhance instructional strategies, classroom management practices, and student support systems. Through weekly data analysis, proactive interventions, and intentional relationship-building with students and families, Larkin has increased its rate of freshman students on track to graduate each year under her guidance. She hosted seminars for off-track students and those on the bubble, led freshman orientation, and created a freshman advisory board to give students a voice and empower them to lead change within the building.
Ms. Elton began her U-46 career in 2014 as a paraeducator at Streamwood High School before becoming a special education and AVID teacher at SHS. She also served as a special education teacher at Bartlett High School before returning to SHS in roles including as a cross-categorical English teacher, case manager, AVID teacher, AVID coordinator, and MTSS lead. During her time as the lead AVID coordinator for the district, she led efforts to expand and diversify AVID programming, strengthen site team collaboration across departments, and increase student enrollment in the program.
Ms. Elton attended U-46 schools from kindergarten, graduating from Streamwood High School. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in organizational/corporate communication from Northern Illinois University, a master’s degree in special education from Northern Illinois University, and a master’s degree with a principal certification from Concordia University Chicago. She was recently honored with the 2025 Ron Raglin GameChanger Award.

Nos complace anunciar que la Sra. Corey Elton ha sido seleccionada como la próxima directora de la Escuela Intermedia Larsen, después de haber servido durante los últimos cuatro años como subdirectora de éxito de estudiantes de primer año de la Escuela Secundaria Larkin. En ese puesto, ha ayudado a apoyar la transición de los estudiantes de octavo grado a la escuela secundaria, mostrando un estilo de liderazgo basado en el análisis cuidadoso de datos, la resolución colaborativa de problemas y una profunda creencia en lo que cada estudiante puede lograr.
Una de las principales funciones de la Sra. La Sra. Elton comenzó su carrera en U-46 en el 2014 como paraeducadora en la Escuela Secundaria Streamwood antes de convertirse en maestra de educación especial y AVID en SHS. También se desempeñó como maestra de educación especial en la Escuela Secundaria Bartlett antes de regresar a SHS en diversos puestos, entre ellos maestra de inglés para categorías múltiples, administradora de casos, maestra de AVID, coordinadora de AVID y líder de MTSS. Durante su etapa como coordinadora principal de AVID para el distrito, dirigió los esfuerzos para ampliar y diversificar la programación de AVID, reforzar la colaboración entre los equipos de los distintos departamentos y aumentar la matriculación de estudiantes en el programa.
La Sra. Elton asistió a las escuelas del distrito U-46 desde kindergarten y se graduó de la Escuela Secundaria Streamwood. Tiene un bachillerato en Comunicación Organizacional/Corporativa de la Universidad Northern Illinois, una maestría en Educación Especial de la Universidad Northern Illinois y una maestría con certificación de directora de la Universidad Concordia de Chicago.
